If you have an FSA (Flexible Spending Account) through your employer, then you must spend any remaining money in the account by December 31 or risk losing it! Taking care of your family’s dental health is an excellent way to utilize the remaining money in your FSA and maximize the benefits of your insurance policy. Here are some important things to consider when planning how to use your FSA dollars for dental care:
Deductibles and Maximum Dollars
Many dental plans have deductibles that must be met, as well as an annual maximum dollar amount that the plan will pay during the benefit period (usually January through December). If you have satisfied the deductible, but have not reached the maximum benefit amount, these unused benefits do not roll over. You could lose out on hundreds of dollars of services!
